NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a Presidential Primary Election will be held in the:


COUNTY OF ALLEGAN, STATE OF MICHIGAN

CITIES OF: ALLEGAN, CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF DOUGLAS, FENNVILLE, HOLLAND, OTSEGO, PLAINWELL, SAUGATUCK, SOUTH HAVEN AND WAYLAND.

TOWNSHIPS OF: ALLEGAN, CASCO, CHESHIRE, CLYDE, DORR, FILLMORE, GANGES, GUNPLAIN, HEATH, HOPKINS, LAKETOWN, LEE, LEIGHTON MANLIUS, MARTIN, MONTEREY, OTSEGO, OVERISEL, SALEM, SAUGATUCK, TROWBRIDGE, VALLEY, WATSON AND WAYLAND.

NOTICE OF LAST DAY OF REGISTRATION

FOR THE MARCH 8, 2016 PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY ELECTION

 

TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF ALLEGAN COUNTY, STATE OF MICHIGAN:  

cITIES OF:   aLLEGAN, CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF DOUGLAS, FENNVILLE, HOLLAND, OTSEGO, PLAINWELL, SAUGATUCK, SOUTH hAVEN and wayland.

 

Townships of:   aLLEGAN, CASCO, CHESHIRE, CLYDE, dorr, FILLMORE, gANGES, gunplain, HEATH, Hopkins, LAKETOWN, LEE, leighton MANLIUS, martin, MONTEREY, otsego, OVERISEL, SALEM, SAUGATUCK, TROWBRIDGE, VALLEY, watson and wayland.

 

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that an Presidential Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.  The last day for receiving registrations for this Election will be Monday, February 8, 2016.  Persons residing in said Cities/Townships registering after 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2016 will not be eligible to vote at the election. 

 

Persons planning to register must determine when the office of the Township Clerk or the office of the County Clerk or the Secretary of State Branch office or other state designated office will be open for registration.  Registration may also be made at the specified agency for clients receiving services through the Human Services Department, the Department Community Health, Michigan Works and some offices of the Commission for the Blind and at the military recruitment offices for persons enlisting in the armed forces.  Registration by mail may be used by obtaining and completing a Mail Voter Registration Application at www.mi.gov/vote and forwarding to the election official as directed on the application by the close of registration deadline.  Lastly, those already registered may update their voter registration at www.expressSOS.com.

 

PERSONS ENTITLED to be registered voters in said Townships must possess the following qualifications on or before the day of the election:  (1) a citizen of the United States; (2) not less than 18 years of age; (3) a resident of the State of Michigan and the local municipality for not less than 30 days prior to the election (MCL 168.492).  In addition, qualified electors must be registered to vote not less than 30 days prior to the election (MCL 168.497).

 

 

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2016 – LAST DAY

FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING APPLICATIONS FOR REGISTRATION OF THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS IN SAID CITIES/TOWNSHIPS.  YOU MAY REGISTER AT THE OFFICE OF YOUR LOCAL CLERK OR THE OFFICE OF THE COUNTY CLERK OR THE SECRETARY OF STATE BRANCH OFFICE OR OTHER STATE DESIGNATED OFFICE OR BY OFFICIAL MAIL REGISTRATION.  PERSONS REGISTERING TO VOTE AFTER 5:00 P.M. ON FEBRUARY 8, 2016 WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN THE MARCH 8, 2016 ELECTION.

 

PERSONS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AS DEFINED BY THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT SHOULD CONTACT THE APPROPRIATE CLERK’S OFFICE.
